Rapper-turned-reality TV star COOLIO has stepped up to the challenge for a celebrity martial arts fight after DMX pulled out of the event last week. DMX, real name Earl Simmons, was due to battle it out with actor Eric Martinez in an Alabama Pride MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) bout next month (Dec09), but recently announced he was no longer interested amid fears for his safety.

Dark Man X spoke with 106.7 The Fan about his upcoming mixed martial arts debut. DMX will be fighting actor Eric Martinez in Alabama, December 12th. Although the fight is billed as an MMA bout, it’s actually going to be a boxing match with gloves and no takedowns.

Rap star DMX will step into the ring against musician Eric Martinez this December, on the under card of the Tank Abbott/ Butterbean fight. Thunder Promotions has announced that DMX will square off against Martinez on December 12 at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama.
