Former Giants Linebacker Lawrence Taylor Charged With Rape

Authorities say Taylor, 51, will be arraigned shortly in Montebello and faces between one to four years in prison.
Investigators say that the 16-year-old runaway from the Bronx was escorted by a Pimp named Rashid Davis to Taylor’s room in a Holiday Inn in Suffern, N.Y., about 45 minutes outside of the city.
The relationship between the teenager and Davis is still unknown.
When police arrived, they found Lawrence Taylor sleeping and found alcohol in the hotel room, according to authorities. They also said that Taylor was not intoxicated.
The girl had a black eye, but authorities say she received the injury before the alleged incident. Investigators say she has been reunited with her uncle.
An attorney for Taylor says he’s confident Taylor’s “innocence will be proven.”
New York City police are taking part in the ongoing investigation.
Taylor played for the Giants in the 1980s and 1990s, helping lead them to Super Bowl victories in 1987 and 1991.
The former Giants lineman was inducted into the National Football League Hall of Fame in 1999.
He has since been convicted of possessing drug paraphernalia in New Jersey. Just last year, he competed on the ABC reality show “Dancing with the Stars.”
